GASTONIA - Eleanor Dennis Lollis, 74, died Aug. 19, 2017, at Carolinas Medical Center-Main.
She was born in Gaston County on Sept. 12, 1942, to the late William Lee and Lucille G. Dennis.
The family will receive friends from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Gaston Memorial Park with the releasing of the doves.

I remember Ellie was a kind and soft spoken person in high school. It was nearly 20 years after graduation that I came in contact with her again. I was teaching in Stanley and one of my duties was supervising the buses. I was very surprised when I visited the school bus garage on Osceloa where I met the new clerk. It was Ellie! She called me by name which I did not expect. With those words the years melted away and though a little older she was the same helpful soft spoken person I had known in high school. Her presences will be missed.
