Gary Price Groves passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the age of 79. Born in Gastonia on April 1, 1942, Gary was the son of the late Edward Hamilton Groves, Sr. and Annie Kathleen Huffstetler Groves.
Gary retired after many years of service with AB Carter, where he was a supervisor. A longstanding member of East Garrison Baptist Church, Gary served as a Deacon, Usher, Treasurer and Sound Technician. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed gardening and fixing things.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Becky S. Groves; children, Scott Groves and wife, Ellen, and Mandy G. Frank and husband, David; granddaughters, Caitlyn Frank, Morgan Frank and Jenna Frank; brothers, Edward H. Groves, Jr. and wife, Martha, and Rev. Clay Groves and wife, Loretta.
Family and friends of Gary Groves are invited to attend his visitation beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2021 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A funeral service will be held beginning at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 31, 2021 in Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. The Rev. Charles Ledford will officiate. Burial will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
