Faye Gulledge Whiten, a beloved wife, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and cherished member of the community, passed away suddenly at her residence, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born in Gaston County, North Carolina on April 23, 1942 to the late Leroy and Elise Hoffman Gulledge. Faye dedicated many years of her life as secretary at John Jenkins and Walsh Chemical. However, her true passion lay in her role as a dedicated member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church. At Sandy Plains Baptist Church, Faye served as a Sunday school teacher and WMU leader, touching the lives of many with her wisdom, kindness, and love for Christ. Her commitment to her church Community reflected her compassionate and loving nature, which extended beyond the church walls into every aspect of her life.

Faye found solace and joy in tending to her garden, where she nurtured beautiful flowers with care and dedication. Her love for gardening was a reflection of the beauty she cultivated in her relationships with family and friends. Above all else, Faye cherished spending time with her loved ones, creating precious memories that will live on in their hearts forever.

Among those left to cherish Faye's memory are her husband of 37 years, Gary Whiten; children Annette Hoffman Myers (Jeff), Michael Lee Hoffman (Michelle), Larry Alan Cody (Shea); step-children James Matthew Whiten (Matthew), Michele Whiten Barton (Matthew); grandchildren Joshua Crocker, Jon Cody, Logan Cody, Jacob Cody, Morgan Hoffman, Stella Barton, and Blake Barton; great-grandchildren Westin Lemley, Ayden Rakestraw, Landon Cody, Jagger Crocker, Cameron Cody; soon-to-be great-grandchild Jackson Alan Cody; sister Jane Rushton; brother Donnie Gulledge (Malinda); and a host of dear friends.

Throughout her life, Faye's proudest accomplishments centered around the time she spent with family and friends. Her warm smile and welcoming spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family will receive friends at Sandy Plains Baptist Church Sanctuary in Gastonia on February 24th—beginning with a Visitation at 1:30 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM with Reverend Chris Howell and Reverend Richard Brown officiating.
