Maggie Lou Parson McBee

Maggie Lou Parson McBee, 80, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, North Carolina. Maggie was born September 16, 1941 to the late Boss and Rosie Parson of Banks County, Georgia.

The Parson family relocated to Gastonia, North Carolina in 1946 and Maggie graduated from Ashley High School in 1959. While attending Ashley High School, she met the love of her life, Larry Wayne McBee Sr., as he was completing his service as a United States Marine. They were married July 28, 1960, in York, South Carolina. Maggie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother throughout her life and loved spending quality time with her family.

In her early years, Maggie worked for Warner and Swasey before joining Larry in their heating and air conditioning family business. Maggie later worked as a Christian tour director for many years and cherished her days spent traveling the world with her closest friends and family. Maggie’s greatest memories revolved around her time spent experiencing new places with friends in the community. Some of her favorite trips included destinations in South Dakota, Alaska, Hawaii, and Germany. Maggie loved to sing and dance, and she spent many years participating in various local line dancing and square-dancing groups. She was also a member of Linwood Church of God for over 30 years, and enjoyed her time spent singing in the choir and volunteering in numerous capacities for the church. Maggie was a dedicated follower of Christ, and her faith was incredibly evident to all that knew her.

Maggie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry W. McBee; her daughter, Angela M. Wilson (Parks); her granddaughter, Catherine Grace W. Jordan (Tyler); her sister, Rosalee Parson Tart; two step-granddaughters, Katy W. McCombs (Robert) and Maggie W. Helms (Justin) along with six great step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
