Linda Joyce Hodge Hamrick passed away peacefully at Covenant Village on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. She was born in Gastonia, North Carolina on October 21, 1942 to the late Julius and Naomi Hodge.

Linda graduated from Ashley High School and Kings College with an associate degree. After college, she worked for Duke Power Company, then devoted herself to raising her two children. After her children were older, Linda worked in the office at New Hope Baptist Church until retiring in 2004. Linda was a former member of Bradley United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and served as President of Bessie Davis Guild. After Linda married her beloved Tom, she moved her membership to First Baptist Church in Gastonia, where she served on various committees. Linda enjoyed reading, vacationing with her family, playing bridge with her dear friends in the Happy Hearts Bridge Club, and watching old movies (especially those from the 1940’s). Her family was her greatest joy.

Survivors of Linda include her beloved husband of 53 years, Thomas; son, Joseph Hamrick and his wife Susan; daughter, Caroline and her husband Brian; grandchildren Andrew, Anna, Thomas and Clara. Linda also leaves behind her three sisters and brothers-in-law Judy and Herman Dalton; Nancy and David Boyd; and, Phyllis and Marshall Dilling, III, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11:00am in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors in Gastonia with Reverend Johnathan Bryson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family burial will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Nursing Staff at Covenant Village, and especially those on the Garden Wing, for their loving and gentle care. The family would also like to thank Linda’s Via Hospice team for the care they provided during her final journey.
