Terry Heafner Obituary

 

Blacksburg -- Terry L. Heafner, 83, of 546 Hopewell Rd, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at his home.


Born in Gastonia, he was the widower of Darlene Short Heafner and the son of the late Eugene and Bonnie Lee Earle Heafner. Serving his country in some capacity was always in his heart. He retired as Assistant Police Chief in Charlotte, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a former agent of the FBI, and he served in the Secret Service during Jimmy Carter's administration. He was also a faithful member of the Garden Temple Assembly of God.


Surviving Mr. Heafner are his children: Karla Wamsley, Rhonda Lanier (Darren), and Kymberly Heafner; his grandchildren: Christopher Wamsley, Nicole Wamsley, Brett Lanier, Haylee Cunningham, Courtney Morgan, Ashleigh Lanier, Joey Lanier, Aydan Newsom, and Aaliyah Cotto; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sanda Laughlin.


No services are scheduled at this time.
The family will be at their respective homes.

Mickey Blackwell

Terry and I were childhood friends---got our camping merit badges together. He was active in sports and was a true gentleman on and off the field.  He referred to many of us as OLD FRIEND.  Terry's  death is another serious loss to AHS Class of 1960, which he loved dearly.
