Sandra Gail McManus Jordan

Sandra Gail McManus Jordan, passed away November 29, 2018, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born in Gastonia to Paul Vernon McManus, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Higdon McManus on October 17, 1941. Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Richard, daughter, “Rodder” Robin (Chris Tinsley), and brother, Paul Vernon McManus, Jr. (Wanda), first cousin Gerald Fox (Ann), multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special friends, Vicky, Paul, Sarah, Jason, Robert, and Chris. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first-born, Richard, Jr. and her first cousins, Ed & Dennis Fox, & Kay Fox Setzer.

Sandra was a retired bank executive from First Union Bank. She was a life-long avid Democrat, serving in campaigns, & as the first vice chair of the Gaston County Democrat Party. She was a 30-year member of the State Executive Committee. She attended several Democratic National Conventions. She was President of the Gaston County Democratic Women. She fought for the equality of all. She was fun loving, loyal, feisty, and adventurous. She was a good listener and accepting of everyone.

A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church, Gastonia on December 31, 2018. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice. McLeans Funeral Directors are serving the Jordan family.
