Jim was born in Gastonia, NC and was the son of the late James Clayton and Dora Armstrong Beauchamp. Jim grew up in East Gastonia on Modena Street and made many lasting friendships in that neighborhood.

Jim was a graduate of Ashley High School and was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Jim's business career was in the water works and utilities industries and he retired from Fortiline Waterworks. He and Nancy were charter members of Covenant Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC where Jim was active in Sunday School, various committees, and served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Finance Committee.

Jim had a passion for Southern Gospel music and attended many concerts in his youth with his mother and father. Jim loved to play golf and had many golfing buddies until his health would not allow him to play. Jim and Nancy enjoyed traveling with Christian Tours to explore various parts of the United States. After he and Nancy downsized and moved into their condo, he enjoyed trying his hand at growing tomatoes and trying cooking techniques on his new grill.

Jim leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy Allen Beauchamp and son, Jeff Beauchamp and wife, Melissa of Fort Mill, SC. He was the proud grandfather of three grandsons, Tradd, Luke, and Carter, and travelled to as many of their sports and school activities as he could.
