Memories Before High School (neighborhood, elementary & jr high, etc.):

I remember my first grade teacher at Victory School, Mrs. T.J. Abernathy. She loved all of her students and I can still remember how she hugged me everyday. I remember having a lots of friends and a large group of us walked home from school together everyday. I remember our ninth grade trip to Washington, D. C. We had a great time! I remember having great respect (or was it fear) for R.D. Lingerfeldt.

Special School Memories:

I remember walking to town after school to Sweetlands, dancing at Hamps, smoking across the street from school, Girl's Club initiation (chasing Fred Kirby's car down the street in Kings Mountain), having a hard time with grades in chemistry and geometry, and lots of good friends.

My memories are mostly good and had a great time.

Since School...:

I married just after leaving High School. Went to Kings Business College in Charlotte. Moved to Asheville and graduated form Blantons Business College with Exec Secretarial Diploma. Lived in Asheville for three years, then returned to Gastonia. Had two children. Went to work for Chavis Corporation where I worked for twenty three years as Office Manager/Bookkeeper. I left there and worked for Speedwell Machine as Bookkeeper for five years. I then went to college at Gaston College and graduated in 1991 with Assoc Degree in Accounting. I retired from Spectrum Dyed Yarns after working in the Accounting Dept for fifteen years.
