Obituary

GASTONIA - Mr. Arnold Douglas Robinson Sr., 71, of Gastonia, died Friday, June 6, 2014, at Robin Johnson Hospice House.

He was born Aug. 14, 1942, in McCullough, Ala., the only child of William Lee and Rita Curtis Robinson.

Arnold earned his A.S. degree in Electronics and B.S. degree in Business Administration from Belmont Abbey College. He had worked for 20 years with FMC Lithium and was currently working part time at Piedmont Community Charter School where he loved his co-workers and the students.

He was a 22-year, active member of First ARP Church in Gastonia, where he loved singing in the choir. With Arnold, it was all about Faith and Family; he was known to say, "It's not about me, it's about Him." He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors of Mr. Robinson include his devoted wife of 52 years, Ida Hall Robinson, of Gastonia; daughter, Leigh Robinson Kellogg and husband David Royal Kellogg, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; son, Arnold Douglas Robinson Jr. and wife Mary Susan Lucas, of Gastonia; grandsons, Thomas Royal Kellogg and Benjamin Douglas Kellogg, of Myrtle Beach, and Andrew Phillip Robinson, of Gastonia; brother-in-law, James Franklin Hall and wife Mary Jo Hall, of Clover, S.C.; and nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 3 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at First ARP Church in Gastonia, with the Rev. Matt Kuiken officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.

Interment will be held privately for the family at Gaston Memorial Park.
