Obituary

Gastonia, NC Phyllis Lewis Womack, 70, of Gastonia, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Gastonia, daughter of the late Leland Lawrence, Sr. and Ruth Jones Lewis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Lee Womack; brothers and sisters, Leland Lewis, Jr., Annie Laurie Rhyne, Gladys Rhyne, Johnny Lewis, Nell Williams, Naomi Geocaris, Rachel Stowe and Larry Lewis. Phyllis was retired from Celanese Corp. and was a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church. She loved to cook, read and enjoyed time with her family and making them happy. Phyllis was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved through her service and deeds to others. Survivors include her husband of fifty two years, Charles K. Womack; daughter, Dana Flannery; sons, Chuck Womack and wife Gia, John Womack; granddaughters, Jessica, Lacy, Megan, Caroline; daughter-in-law, Melody Womack and fifteen nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm, Sunday, July 15, 2012 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Reverend Ronnie Bowers officiating. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen, A Quiet Place, Belmont. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Flint Groves Baptist Church, 2017 E. Ozark Ave., Gastonia, NC 28054.
