Fred Larry Marchant, 81, of Anderson, SC went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Born September 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Sergeant Fred Bridges Marchant and the late Dorothy Glover Marchant Woody of Gastonia, NC.

After graduating from Ashley High School in 1960, he attended Western Carolina University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business and spent his career in retail as a store manager and a supervisor.

In 1962, Fred met Vivian at Western Carolina. Fred and Vivian went on to have 2 children, Freddy and Tonya. In 2008, he retired and spent time on the golf course and watching grandchildren play sports. He was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as the chairperson of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee and member of the Koinonia Class.

Fred was preceded in death by his dad, mom and stepfather (Jim Woody) and a niece, Sally Jo Leatherwood.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vivian, and his children, Freddy Marchant of Lexington and Tonya Marchant Barbare (Tim) of Anderson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Avery Marchant (Hannah), Will Marchant, Brady Marchant, Ty Barbare & Alli Barbare, brother, Billy Marchant of Gastonia, NC and sister, Kathy Bossi (David) of Winston-Salem, NC.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 14, 2024, in The Tribute Room of The Standard Cremation & Funeral Center, 1621 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625. Rev. Roy Mitchell & Chris Lynch will officiate.

The family will speak with guests following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1809 N. Main Street, Anderson, SC 29621.

So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was a sweet funny guy in high school. His younger sister Kathy is a contemporary of my daughter Laura. Very warm and sweet family. Condolences to his family.
