I recall fifth period English class with Miss T and the time we spent in a paperback book called Pleasures in Philosophy by Will Durant.

Man needs more insight to maintain peace of mind in today's world.

Other noteworthy accomplishments by this author is The History of Civilization by Will Durant which is a twelve volume series.  You will note that this author always gives you the "reason" for why things happened as they did in history.
