Hi To All,
I too am excited about attending our 50th wedding anniversary, I mean, re-union (I'm old, o.k., give me time). I encourage everyone to take an active part and get everyone signed up. I talked to Jim Bumgardner yesterday and encouraged him to sign up and he did immediately...amazing what one little threat can do. I have several more that will also, at least those that know I carry a gun. The big 50th, wow, so interesting-let's have lot's of fun. Jake

Can anyone tell me the date we graduated? In a mad fit of cleaning, I probably threw out my diploma. I think we wore our caps and gowns on June 1. 1960.

Hi Classmates
Your 2010 reunion committee is continuing to meet at least monthly to develop a fun, exciting reunion on Octber 8 & 9, 2010. This is our 50th reunion and therefore, we are diligently trying to make this one special. We have a lot of information posted on our web site and trust that many of you are checking in frequently to see what is going on and to see who has joined us by sending in their "profile".
Please recheck your own profile to be sure that you have entered all of the requested information. We hope that you will fill out the questionaires completely as well. This will allow us to know who is coming and to what extent you will be involved in the numerous activities that we have planned. We would appreciate your sending any class member related pictures or comments that can be posted on the site for others to enjoy.
We have a nice group (23) of out-of-towners already indicating that they are planning to stay at the Hampton Hotel for the weekend. John and Judith Parker will be our hosts at the hotel and will be glad to assist you with your stay. We have special rates and a hospitality room for AHS 60 classmates.
Please give us your comments regarding the web site as well as any requests or suggestions you may have regarding the reunion. The committee members are excited and we want you to be also!
We are still missing a large number of our classmates who have not responded through the web site. Please contact any that you know and urge them to get involved. They can also telephone any of the committee for information. If you do not feel comfortable calling or e-mailing people, please forward the information to us and we will be happy to contact them. Our objective is to involve as many of our classmates as possible.

I understand Coach Gaither Cline passed away March 28, 2010. He was my homeroom teacher and I truly enjoyed the class. By now we all know about TIME, and about LIFE...let's all live it to the fullest with happiness and peace of mind. Thanks again to the committee for their efforts in making everyone feel welcome and for doing a great job.

You classmates on the committee have done a great job planning this reunion. Thank you all so much for the time you are putting into the planning. The meetings must be fun too. Wish I was close enough to help. Thanks for getting a good rate for us at The Hampton Inn. I've made my reservations.

The web site is wonderful...so much information and so interesting. The pictures bring back so many memories. Thanks everyone for posting pictures.

I have noticed, reading the profiles, how many of us play bridge and was wondering if maybe there was some time during the weekend we could perhaps get up several tables of bridge. Anyone interested???

....back to the day we graduated...I found a graduation invitation today while cleaning out the attic. The invitation itself has May 31 as the date, but in the envelope there is a card that reads 'Errata- Graduation date changed to Monday evening, June 6." Does anyone remember why the date was changed?

I think it may have been because we had to make up lost days because of all the consecutive Wednesdays that it snowed.

It definitely was those three weeks that it snowed every Wednesday.  Remember, we'd go to school all day Monday & Tuesday, then the snow would start after we were in school Wednesday & we'd leave around lunch for the rest of the week.

Walking home in the snow with Jim, Ronnie, etc.; I remember.  One of those Wednesdays a whole bunch of us ended up at Flicka Grindstaff's (class of '62) house.  I don't recall what we did but it is a pleasant memory.

It shocked me to learn that Frank passed away.  I had mentioned him jokingly in my profile and little did I know I would never see him again.  I was going to contact him but I waited to late.  Frank was a great friend during our school years.  I have recently written lyrics and recorded a song in honor of our deceased classmates titled "WITH LOVING THOUGHTS, IN MEMORY"  and any classmate that would like to hear it can send me an e-mail address and I will "attach" it and send it to you.  You can burn/record a copy to cd if you choose.   Several names are in the song and I may do the song several times to have a version so that all deceased classmates have their names in the song.  Love to all.

John, I have contacted a few to encourage them to come. Jim Moten, Thelma Hale Whisnant, and Cynthia Benfield Childress.  FYI - Sue Scoggins passed away in 09 and Mary Anna Dameron Davis is in Alexander Place - she's had several strokes.  Sue Hart Lewis lost her husband a few weeks ago after a tree limb fell on him after cutting a large tree.  And I'm also trying to get Connie Huffstetler Greenlee to come.  I personally am real excited about this reunion and I believe we'll have the best yet.  I thank the committee for their fine job and know we all appreciate you taking time to help us celebrate in a big way!

My 10th grade home room teacher was Mr. Stapleton and 11th grade was Mrs. Froneberger and 12th grade was Mrs. Fannie Holmes Smith.

Hope this brings back memories.
