Attended Gardner Webb and Appalachian State. Married Tom Dodgen 8/1963. Worked
7 1/2 yrs. for First Union National Bank as a
teller and CSR. Retired after 22 1/2 yrs. in federal government service for USDA, Poultry Division in Gastonia, NC and DHHS, PHS,
CDC, Fin. Mgmt. in Cincinnati, OH. Tom and I
moved to Cincinnati in 1989 and were partners in a decorating shop for over 10 yrs. We sold our business and returned to Gastonia in 2002 after I had to take early disability retirement due to severe back problems, and to help take care of Tom's mother who was having health problems. I continued my seasonal employment with H&R Block Tax Service for nearly 20 yrs. as a Senior Tax Advisor.
After disability retirement, I spend most of my time taking care of my very bad back, and Tom of, course. He is a handful, still after 61 + years, not counting 5th grade sweethearts, Jr. High, and High School. Love him more every day. He stays busy and takes good care of me. Since moving to Rutherfordton, we see more of our Daughter, Tracy, and her family. She is now our medical care person, and we are grateful for it. We still are members of Firestone Wesleyan Church and are fortunate to see online services each week.
